Itinerary: –

Leave the hotel at 7:30 a.m. Drive along the national park routes to look for animals such as great hornbills, wreathed hornbills, oriental pied hornbills, white-handed gibbons, pileated gibbons, pig-tailed macaques, and wild elephants. Next, trek through the beautiful primitive forest to see various plants and trees, look for animals in their natural habitats, and have lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, go to the waterfall in the popular film “The Beach,” where you can rest and relax. In the late afternoon, we’ll go to a viewpoint or salt licks to look for wild elephants or other animal species we haven’t seen before. Thereafter, we return to the hotel.

After lunch, go to the waterfall in the popular film “The Beach,” where you can rest and relax. In the late afternoon, we’ll either go to a viewpoint or salt lick to look for wild elephants or other animal species we haven’t seen before. Thereafter, we go on a night safari in a park ranger’s car to look for nocturnal animals.

Next, trek through the beautiful primitive forest to see various plants and trees, look for animals in their natural habitats, and have lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, go to the waterfall in the popular film “The Beach,” where you can rest and relax. In the late afternoon, we’ll go to a viewpoint or salt licks to look for wild elephants or other animal species we haven’t seen before. Thereafter, we drive to the bat cave, where we witness millions of bats leaving the cave in a spiral-moving form to evade the predatory birds waiting outside. We later drive back to the hotel.

Have lunch at a local restaurant, then drive and trek to the highest waterfall in the national park. Next, we drive to search for wild elephants and other animal species. Thereafter, we go on a night safari in a park ranger’s car to look for nocturnal animals.

Day 2:    7:30 a.m.–5:30–6:00 p.m.

Leave the hotel at 7:30 a.m. Look for wildlife along the park roads, then hike on a different trail to see various forests and animals, and eat lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, go to the waterfall in the popular film “The Beach,” where you can rest and relax. Khao Yai National Park is a popular birdwatching destination in Thailand, offering opportunities to observe birds throughout the year. The park is home to over 300 bird species, including migratory birds that arrive during the winter months from October to February. Notable species include the Siamese Fireback, Silver Pheasant, Coral-billed Ground Cuckoo, Blue Pitta, Eared Pitta, and Banded Kingfisher, as well as various types of broadbills and hornbills.

The bird-watching activity begins at 06:00 AM with a departure from your hotel to explore and observe birds along the park’s roads and nature trails. After enjoying lunch at a local restaurant, we will continue bird-watching in the afternoon at the waterfall—famous as a filming location for the movie “The Beach”—and at the highest peak within Khao Yai National Park.

Khao Yai Wildlife and Bird Photography Tour

Khao Yai National Park is rich in flora and fauna, with 300 bird species and 71 species of mammals, making it ideal for wildlife photography. The national park is also home to fascinating birds and animals, including great hornbills, wreathed hornbills, silver pheasants, Siamese firebacks, trogons, clouded leopards, gaurs, marble cats, civets, white-handed gibbons, pileated gibbons, bears, and elephants. During the elephant breeding season, the males travel along the roads in search of the females, while female elephant herds bring their calves to visit salt licks to consume minerals, providing us with excellent photographic opportunities to take pictures of them. We frequently spot interesting animals along the park roads, and getting into the forest also provides us with more opportunities to photograph wild creatures in their natural settings and habitats. At 7:30 a.m., we leave the hotel, take pictures of animals along the park roads, in the forests, and at the famous waterfall that starred in the movie “The Beach,” and then visit the salt licks along the national park.

How to get to Khao Yai National Park from Bangkok

Go to Mo Chit Minivan Station, Building A, Counter No. 1, and buy a ticket to Pak Chong for around 180-200 baht. The journey to Pak Chong takes about 2.5-3 hours. It is approximately 28 kilometers from Pak Chong to the national park entrance.

How to get to Khao Yai National Park from Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat):

Go to Nakhon Ratchasima Bus Terminal No. 2 (New Bus Terminal) and take a minivan to Pak Chong. The price is around 80-90 baht. The journey takes about 1.5 hours. It is approximately 28 kilometers from Pak Chong to the national park entrance.
